Custom website design for therapists and private practices

Psychiatrist web design

Your directory profile brings people to your site. What happens next decides whether you get the call.

Big Apple Media builds and redesigns custom WordPress sites for therapists, counselors, psychologists, and group practices. We handle the whole thing. Design, build, copy, and search setup, all in-house. No subcontractors, no offshore teams, no junior account manager reading your messages back to you.

Directory listings that match your content. Your Psychology Today, Alma, or Headway profile says one thing. Your site should say the same thing, in the same voice, with the same specialties listed.

Specialty pages, not one services list. Anxiety, couples, trauma, EMDR, ADHD, perinatal. Each gets its own page so each one can rank on its own and speak to one person.

Built for mental health practices

Web design for therapy, counseling, and psychiatric practices

Therapists and mental health professionals get sold the same template every other small business gets sold. It does not fit. You cannot show before and after results. You cannot post client testimonials. Half your marketing tools are off the table before you start.

What you can do is answer the questions a person asks in the ten minutes before they pick up the phone. Do you take my insurance. Do you work with what I am dealing with. What does a session cost. Are you taking new clients. A site that answers those four questions fast will outperform a prettier site that buries them.

Practices we build for

What goes into a therapist website design that works

We build custom WordPress sites for private practice therapists, counselors, psychologists, and psychiatric practices.

That means specialty pages that rank on their own, fees and insurance stated where people look for them, forms that handle client information properly, and a booking path that runs into the system you already use.

We connect to the tools you already use. SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, Jane, Alma, Headway, Calendly. Your booking link, client portal, and intake paperwork all live where they already live. We build the site around your workflow instead of asking you to change it.

We get the HIPAA question right. You have probably been told your whole website needs to be HIPAA compliant. It does not. Your marketing pages are marketing pages. What matters is any form that collects client information and any portal you link to. We lock those down and leave the rest alone. Here is how HIPAA applies to a therapy website, and the HIPAA mistakes that get practices fined.

Fees and insurance where people look for them.
The two questions every visitor has are what it costs and whether you take their plan. We give both their own page, including your Good Faith Estimate notice if you are out of network, so nobody has to email you to find out.

We build specialty pages that rank. One page per specialty, written for the person searching that specific thing. A page about couples counseling in your city will bring you couples. A page listing eleven services will bring you nobody.

Local search set up from day one.
Your Google Business Profile, your city pages, and the on-page work that gets you into map results. Most therapists are competing against six other practices in one zip code, and the map pack decides who gets the call.

Therapy practice websites, built the way you want

psychiatrist website design

We tell you what you need before you spend anything.
Some practices need a whole new site. Some need three pages fixed. We look at what you have and tell you which situation you are in, along with what each option costs.

You approve the design before we build anything.
We design your home page first and send it to you. Once you approve it, we design the inside pages. Real photos, real copy, your practice. Never a stock template with your logo dropped on it.

We build for mobile.
Most people look for a therapist on a phone. Your pages load fast and work properly on every screen size, tested before launch.

We stay on after launch.
We watch how the site performs for the first few months. If a page is getting visitors but nobody is booking, we rewrite it. That is included, not an upsell.

Practices we build for

Different practices have different needs. No matter your specialty, we understand the unique challenges you face and design websites that address them.

Solo private practice

The site needs to sound like you, load fast, and let you change your fees and availability without calling anyone. We build it so you can update your own bio, rates, and open slots in about two minutes.

Group practices

Multiple clinicians means multiple problems. Each therapist needs a bio page that ranks on its own name, an accurate specialty list, and a live "accepting new clients" state that front desk can flip without a support ticket.

Psychiatry and teletherapy

Psychiatric practices need medication management and diagnosis pages written carefully. Teletherapy practices need a page for every state you are licensed in, which is one of the fastest ways to pick up search traffic in this field.

Why therapists hire us

What you get working with Big Apple Media

Over 20 years of experience

We have been building websites since 2001. That means fewer surprises, faster decisions, and a process that has already survived whatever your project throws at it.

No outsourcing, ever

Design, development, content, and SEO all happen here. Nothing goes to a contractor, an offshore team, or a junior account manager reading your messages back to you.

HIPAA-compliant websites

Patient forms, intake, and contact flows built to protect health information. We handle the technical requirements so your practice is not exposed by its own website.

Flexible solutions to fit any budget

Template-based builds for tight budgets, fully custom when the project calls for it. We tell you what you actually need instead of quoting the biggest number we think you will pay.

We guarantee the quality of our work

If something is not right, we fix it. No change order, no invoice, no argument about whether it was in scope.

Always responsive and attentive

Email or call and you get a real answer, usually the same day. No ticket queue, no automated reply telling you where you sit in line.

Reliable training and support

We walk you through editing your own pages, adding posts, and updating content. You own the site and you can run it without calling us for every small change.

Invested in client success

Your website exists to book appointments and generate calls. We measure the work by leads and rankings, not by how the homepage looks in a portfolio.

No long-term contracts

No twelve month lock-in, no cancellation penalties. Clients stay because the work is good, which is the only reason worth staying for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapist website questions answered

Most solo private practice sites land between $2,000 and $5,000 depending on how many pages and specialties you need. Group practices with clinician bios and multiple locations run higher. We give you a fixed number before any work starts, and there are no long-term contracts.

Most projects take six to eight weeks. A smaller therapist site can be done in about four if your content is ready and the build is straightforward.

A few things can increase the development time.
More pages take longer. So do custom features like online booking, patient portals, and advanced forms. A complicated design adds time too, and so does every round of revisions.

The biggest hold-up is content. If your text and photos are not ready, the project stalls. Clients who have everything ready before we start designing launch much faster.

Yes. Everything is built in WordPress with Elementor, and you get a walkthrough covering how to add a page, swap photos, update hours, and publish a post. Most clients handle their own content changes within a week of launch.

Yes. Domain, hosting account, WordPress install, design, and content. All yours. If you decide to work with someone else later, the site goes with you.

Yes, though it is billed separately from any development work. Most maintenance clients host with us because it puts the server, the WordPress install, and the person fixing things in one place. If you are happy with your current host, keep it. If you’re looking for different hosting or want us to host the website, we offer competitively priced and reliable hosting. Rates are on the pricing page.

Not if the migration is handled properly. Rankings drop when old URLs get deleted without redirects or when pages that already rank get rewritten. Every redesign here starts with a ranking baseline and a one-to-one redirect map, and I monitor Search Console daily for 30 days after launch.

Most therapists write their own. You know your patients and your services better than anyone, and we give you a page-by-page outline so you are not starting from nothing. If you would rather not write it, we can write it for you, but it will be an additional cost. Existing content that already works stays, and we can edit rather than rewrite it.

We do both, but they are separate projects. Every website includes the SEO basics: clean URL structure, heading hierarchy, title tags and meta descriptions, schema markup, analytics and Search Console setup, and on-page optimization for the pages we build. That is what gets your site indexed correctly.

What it does not include is the ongoing work that actually moves rankings: keyword research, content strategy, competitor analysis, link building, and month-to-month optimization.

Advance SEO and monthly SEO maintenance is a separate service many clients opt into once the site is live.

However, many of our clients launch the site and handle their own marketing from there.

Yes. Most clients are across the US, not just New York. The work happens over calls, screen shares, and email, so location rarely matters.

Yes. Most of the work is healthcare practices, home service pros, and professional services like attorneys, accountants, and consultants. Those are the businesses we know best, because they all sell the same way: someone searches with a problem, lands on your site, and decides in seconds whether to call. Outside those industries we take projects also, when the fit is right. If you’re interested, fill out a quote form and we’ll review details and let you know if we can help.
